A mindfulness community
Insight Denver Board Principles
The Board of Insight Denver commits to living these principles, rooted in the Ten Paramis of Early Buddhism, in order to best serve the community:
Generosity and Ethical Conduct
We will foster a spirit of giving in ourselves, uphold our values of integrity and non-harming, and create a foundation of trust and care in our community through our speech and actions. Every Board member additionally agrees to uphold the Insight Denver Code of Ethics.
Renunciation and Wisdom
We will practice non-clinging to views and letting go of personal agendas, so that we may focus on the collective good of the community. As a practice of Wise Relationship, we will share and take personal accountability for any emotions, judgments, and agendas with other Board members that may be impacting our collective process. We will use discernment and our active Dharma practices to guide our decisions.
Energy and Patience
We will bring wholehearted effort to our responsibilities and clearly inform each other if we become unable to do so because of other duties or circumstances in our lives. We will do our best to remain patient, open-hearted and open-minded in response to challenges, struggles, and disputes.
Truthfulness and Determination
We will speak and act with honesty, authenticity, skillfulness, self-awareness, and clarity. To cultivate connectedness and trust within the Board, we will refrain from internal gossip, politicking, backbiting, libel, and slander. We will stay committed to our shared vision and values with perseverance and resolve.
Loving-kindness and Equanimity
We will nurture kindness and goodwill toward each other as Board members, toward all sangha members, and toward all beings everywhere. We will cultivate balance and steadiness in our roles as leaders, so that we may be present with our own and others' suffering and address the needs of all involved.
