Meeting Life Skillfully
A Zen master, when asked what was the highest, most profound teaching of a lifetime, said, “An appropriate response.” How would it feel to meet people, places, events and respond appropriately to each, with laughter in fun times, compassion in sad times, and deep care in challenging times? Maybe all in the same day!
This talk will build on previous discussions of the ten paramis by focusing on how the last two—metta (lovingkindness) and equanimity—are attitudes of the mind that can support us in meeting life skillfully. We will also explore how not-self is a key ingredient in the mix.
